Many years ago, Carmilla was born in the House Ansaac in the Castle Aberleen. As the only daughter of the Earl, she was loved by all her family since birth. When she grew up, her eminent family background coupled with her captivating beauty made her one of the most popular noble ladies around the Castle Aberleen, and maybe even the whole Empire. However, her royal origin was inevitably bound to the tragedy as was to become a political tool of her father Earl Anssac, consolidating power by betrothing her to another family of power.
Though countless aristocrats tried to court Carmilla, none of them pleased her. Her innate pride made her refuse to bow down to mediocrity. What she wanted was someone who could connect with her soul. But, her father Earl Ansaac had already made his decision. As the threat of the abyss was getting closer, he knew that the new class of military-nobles would dominate the politics of the land. Thus, he had to establish good relations with them in order to sustain the social status of his family. However, a man who was a rather insignificant to the old Earl foiled this plan. This man was Cecilion, the best opera singer in the southern Empire. Carmilla became his most loyal audience since the first day he came to the Castle Aberleen. In Carmilla’s eyes, he was just so elegant and talented, but she could also read the melancholy and the mystery from his eyes. For every performance of Cecilion, Carmilla would sit in the right middle in the auditorium, quietly enjoying his song performance.
One day, as the curtains called, Cecilion and Carmilla's eyes met. The flames of passion ignited between them. And like a bolt of lightning cracking open the dark night sky, they instantly fell in love.
The days that followed were the happiest ones in Carmilla's life. When night fell, Cecilion dressed up and came to invite her to the opera house, singing songs he composed for her. And Carmilla watched his performance intently, never taking her eyes off him. When the performance ended, they dated at the backstage, dancing in the moonlight. And in the early morning, Cecilion would put a rose on Carmilla's windowsill that was nourished by the morning dew and leave quietly.
As time went by, Carmilla noticed something unusual about Cecilion. He lived in solitude and never had needless contact with others. His skin was always pale, even when he didn’t makeup; and it seemed that he always tried to avoid something. From his eyes, Carmilla could feel his desire for a normal life, and she could vaguely see that Cecilion might have some connection to the legendary blood demon species. Though Cecilion never talked about his origins with her, she still chose to believe in him, because she could feel his love was real. No matter he was man or blood demon, it was just about love between them, and Carmilla believed that she would always belong to Cecilion, and would spend the rest of her life with him.
Though they loved each other so deeply, Carmilla’s father the Earl forbade her to marry this humble singer. He imprisoned her and forced her to marry Baron Tawil, the general of the imperial army, who was stationed near the Castle Aberleen. In order to make Carmilla forget Cecilion, the Earl even sent his men to close the opera house. In Cecilion’s mind, he knew that the love between the blood demon and mankind would never be true. Though he loved Carmilla, he finally decided to give up. At the day he left, he wrote a letter to her, in which he told her everything, about his origins, his story, and left it with a rose at her windowsill.
Carmilla didn’t stop fighting, she was not willing to succumb to her father's will. But her heart broke when she read his parting letter. To Carmilla, it didn't matter what species he belonged to. She loved him, and without him, her life would become meaningless.
She stood at the window, watching the direction Cecilion left to. As the dawn was raising, she slit her wrist with a sharp dagger. The world fell into endless darkness. And Carmilla buried her love in her own way.
When Carmilla awoke, she found herself once again in Cecilion’s arms. His eyes were full of kindness, and he was looking at her. Then she found that her touch was so cold, as if she was lifeless, and her skin looked just as pale as Cecilion's. She knew, her lover didn’t abandon her, he returned and revived her with his blood. These two lonely souls finally were together again and could live with each other forever.
After that day, the people of Castle Aberleen never saw Cecilion or Carmilla again, only the legendary tales of the night, which passed from mouth to mouth over time. When night came, Carmilla nestled in Cecilion's arms above the top tower of Castle Aberleen, as if time stood still.

Are you curious as to how steel is made?
"First of all, you'll need raw materials and the best iron ores from the Business District..."
After reading just one line, Lolita threw the away.
"Isn't there a way to make steel without using iron ores?"
Just so that you don't get the wrong idea, Lolita wasn't trying to unreasonable. In fact, she usually comes across as gentle and understanding. Of course, she wasn't trying to invent a new way of making steel, but more Of a way to "strengthen herself. She was always looking for ways to make herself as powerful. formidable, and indestructible as steel...
Because then she would be able to protect everyone.
Lolita was a half-elf—except for her pointy ears, she was literally no different than an ordinary human. She was born in a village that was later destroyed by war, and from that devastating night. she was the sole survivor. When she finally regained consciousness, the City of Scholars—Eruditio welcomed her with warmth, passion, and freedom that protected her like a beast of steel for the rest of her life.
Later, Leviathan Workshop took her in. It's the center of applied technology in Eruditio, where the dreams of all scholars were realized. If the Spire of Knowledge was the brain of the city. then the workshop was the heart. supplying the blood of technology to the entire city. Though the fancy concepts and odd job craftsmen had little to do with Lolita, she occupied herself with as much as she could each day, and even when the tasks were dull and insignificant, she would still give her very best.
Occasionally, she'd stare with fascination at the blazing red Noumenon Energy Core—the precious Starlium Reactor, which was also the power source of the workshop. It wasn't just any ordinary workshop furnace, because it also served as the power generator for Eruditio. And as long as it remained burning, Eruditio would never stop advancing.
Lolita lived in the workshop, and the warmth of the blaze had always accompanied her to sleep. Every time she recalled the night when the war broke out, the souls of the dead would always let out a painful wail that haunted her. And whenever this happened. a large and impenetrable figure of steel would always stand before her, leading her to the warmth of Eruditio.
Though Lolita couldn't remember his face, she clearly recalled that he had an unknown marking on his back that resembled a tree. So, Lolita concluded that it must be a tree that grew in the desert, and that the tree served as the hope of an oasis ahead.
But when she learned that it was the symbol of the Eruditio Rangers. Lolita made up her mind to join them and protect the city as they did.
So she to train herself, and it took her exactly 49 trials for her to finally accept the cruel reality that she wasn't good at fighting. Her gentleness proved a disadvantage on the battlefield, she wasn't able to maneuver freely and repel the ruthless and destructive attacks, and even the shield magic from her elven blood didn't make her a more intimidating opponent.
She looked at her small, thin arms that couldn't even lift the slightly larger hammer, that was her —a "chunk of low-grade ore that probably didn't contain any iron in it". She sighed deeply, disappointed in herself for having no talents whatsoever.
She thought that since she didn't have the talent, she'd make up for it with time, but fate never waits for anyone.
Late that night, Lolita was awoken by an explosion, and she saw the workshop go up in flames. An unidentified enemy had launched a surprise attack. Fierce gunfire broke out everywhere, and though all defense machinery was activated. they failed to repel the enemy's invasion. The guarding craftsmen covered Lolita and retreated to the core—the last line of defense. If the Noumenon Energy Core is damaged. the consequences would be unthinkable.
Suddenly, Lolita saw her past flash before her eyes. It was as if she was back in her childhood village lit up by war. The same moans of pain, the same helpless eyes, and the same weakness that required protection. Sorrow. guilt. cowardice, anger... a mix of emotions surfaced, but her body froze.
Sure enough, a 'low-grade ore" like her will never become "steel"...
She became determined and looked into the still-blazing core.
"Is there really no way to make steel without iron ores?"
"There is. The element of iron can be found everywhere in nature, but is only revealed under extreme heat... Can you bear it?"
Wordlessly. her body started to move. Everything around her stood still—the sound of gunfire, explosions, and shouting faded away, and there was only one target in her eyes: the Noumenon Energy Core. No matter the cost, she will protect this land...
Suddenly, a blinding light shot straight up into the sky. and that was the flames Of life.
After an indeterminate amount of time, Lolita struggled to open her eyes, and standing in front of her was that tree, the tall figure.
"What... did I do?" Lolita mumbled.
"You touched the core with your bare hands and its a miracle you're even alive." said the man with awe.
"The surging energy of the core penetrated your body and miraculously activated the shield magic in your blood that protected the workshop..."
"You saved us, and you deserve to be recognized for your courage. As the captain, I now welcome you to the Eruditio Rangers."
"But I'm weak, and I don't know how to fight..."
"Fighting is not the only way. because protecting is equally important, and we need you." After saying that, he turned around and walked out the door.
"Dont worry about the rest."
He smiled and said, 'Eruditio is a place where miracles happen."
With the technology of Eruditio, Lolita was given a mechanical glove with great powers. The workshop even crafted a sledgehammer for her from a fragment of the Noumenon Energy Core—a symbol of the workshop's will and an affirmation of her courage. Since the core was integrated with elven magic during the invasion, she could now work with it effortlessly.
With the courage to use her body as a shield, Lolita became a member of the Eruditio Rangers. Though she was the youngest, she took good care of everyone, and whenever danger arise, she'd always rush to the frontlines.
So, are you still curious as to how steel is made? That's no longer important. Because her courage and gentleness have become stronger than steel, forever protecting the city.

With the end of Golden Era, a monstrous Abyssal fissure had once more been rent within the Land of Dawn, and from its depths dark energies surged forth again.
The dark of night was to fall once more. The Abyss loomed menacingly.
To protect this world, the Lord of Light selected a number of pure maidens to fall pregnant with angels. The legends said that only females could be angels – such as, those chosen by the Lord of Light could only give birth to girls.
Argus and Rafaela are twin siblings born in the Moniyan Empire. The Monastery of Light Sacrists forced their mother to imbibe holy water, in the name of the Lord of Light. Hence, she would birth an angel in his temple. Their mother was by all means an ordinary woman, both she and her lover loyally devoted to one another. Yet under the Sacrists' supervision and persuasion, she had little choice but to accept the 'honor' given to her by the Lord of Light.
The pregnancy of one who bears an angel is an unimaginably long and slow process. Over the three-year period her heart grew heavier, tortured by the loneliness of such a lengthy ordeal. She longed for her lover, yearned to be with him once again. After two years had passed, she could take it no more, and escaped the temple to reunite with him; together, they lived happily once more. Yet it was to be a short-lived happiness.
The Sacrists found her before long. Her lover was slain before her eyes for threatening to defile the Lord of Light's divine bloodline, and she was returned to the Monastery.
Another year passed, at the end of which she died during childbirth. To everyone's surprise, she gave birth to a set of twins: and one was a baby boy.
The infant's eyes bore a striking resemblance to those of his late mother's lover. The Cleric of Light quickly caught on to this, realizing that the boy was born of humankind – yet incredibly, he possessed the power of the angels. The Sacrists tried to slay him but their efforts were thwarted, for each time they tried, a dazzling light would burst from Rafaela, protecting her brother from all harm.
This was considered as a miracle. They hence abandoned all ideas of killing the boy. Instead, in silent unanimity, it was decided that the circumstances of his birth were to be kept a secret from everyone.
The Monastery of Light covered up the truth so masterfully that even the twins themselves knew nothing of it.
And so, Argus and Rafaela grew up together, undergoing the same teaching and training. What set them apart, however, was the fact that she was seen as a beautiful ray of light: a holy, immaculate being. In the eyes of the people, Rafaela was their one true angel. Argus was kept in the shadows, on the other hand, and forever barred from the glory so rightfully his.
Yet Rafaela loved her brother dearly, as she loved her. The two experienced entirely different treatments, and Argus was constantly warned that his only choice was to live in her shadow, yet the two were nonetheless an inseparable pair that cared deeply for one another. Both were kind-hearted to a fault, and as soon as they come of age, swore to uphold their common mission: to use their power to protect peace and spread the Light.
Praise and admiration arrived in waves, but alas, it fell only upon Rafaela. While Argus was every bit as outstanding as his sister, and like her had put tremendous effort into upholding the way of the Light, everyone's praise was directed solely at the gentle Rafaela instead. While he fought for the Light, it was in the darkness that Argus remained.
Rafaela bore witness to this, and many times wished to speak out for her brother: to change the attitude people held toward him. Not once was she successful, however. She couldn't understand: why he was treated like such an outcast? No matter how hard he tried, how great his sacrifices, they knew it all yet still treated him the same…
Rafaela was an always an attentive soul, and so she soon noticed when Argus' attitude toward humankind began to change. In his eyes, human nature was a malevolent and selfish thing. This being the case, why should even bother trying to ingratiate himself with them? The twins had several arguments concerning this, for Rafaela conversely believed that the Abyss was the root of all Darkness in life. She believed that humanity was good and kind, yet such qualities were lost once tainted by the Abyss. Neither was willing to change their standpoint, no matter how hard they tried to persuade the other.
The two diverged in terms of their individual philosophies. In time, however, their tactics on the battlefield began to differ too.
In the midst of the battle, Argus forged on tirelessly as he hungered for a swift victory, yet as a result fell into the demons' trap. Rafaela commanded that the troops retreat, but Argus disregarded her as he headed deep into the demons' nest.
Argus return from the enemy camp with demonic blade in hand, a weapon emanating a malicious aura. An ominous dark haze swirled around him. Though Rafaela toiled to purge him of this darkness, he broke away and slayed the troops all around her before escaping.
From then on, Rafaela would tirelessly search for each and every scrap concerning her brother's whereabouts. His behaviour came as no surprise to the Monastery of Light Sacrists; on the contrary, they claimed that they'd long considered him a corrupted soul and that this day was inevitable. Their words shook Rafaela to her core, and for the first time her faith was shaken also. She punished them severely, and left the Monastery of Light to find her lost brother.
Several months passed. Finally, it was in the Barren Lands that she was reunited with Argus. What she hadn't accounted for, though, was that the Argus she knew was now long gone. The golden aura in which he was once bathed, his radiant wings, they were nowhere to be seen; and in their place was an oppressive aura of cruelty and pitch-black wings of darkness.
There was no going back now... Rafaela wanted to raise her staff and bring an end to this, as was her duty. Yet memories of the past floated into her mind, one after another, and she couldn't bring herself to do it. Argus gazed at her from afar, and silently turned to leave.
From then on, he would only fall further into the darkness of the Abyss. Constantly wracked by pain and confusion, constantly sinking ever deeper. As time went on, Rafaela grew into the woman she is today: an angel admired by all, the savior of the apocalypse and embodiment of the Light. Despite this, she could never bear to face the closest to her.
Time passes, never to return. No matter human or angel, none can turn back the hands of time.

Belerick stumbled upon the decline of Agelta Drylands during a meander of his many ago.
The despair and sorrow almost consumed him, when a blooming little flower suddenly broke into his sight. "There's still life!" Moved by such tenacious vitality, the treant decided to create what was later known as the Oasis at the place.
While creating the Oasis, Belerick unintentionally poured more power into the little flower, and the overflowing energy condensed into a glowing seed. The little flower, however, underwent an even more peculiar transition. It turned into a life form that had never appeared on the Land of Dawn–Floryn.
Since the day she was born, Floryn had never stepped out of the Oasis. The latter isolated her from the harsh environment of the desert, allowing her to live a life carefree. To Floryn, that glowing seed was the only mystery in her peaceful life. She spent the days contemplating the secret of the seed and the nights sleeping in the shade of the leaves. Only explorers and caravans would occasionally visit this undisturbed little world.
Among the caravans that frequented the Oasis, Floryn met a young man with a dazzling smile. He'd tell Floryn fun stories he'd seen or heard on his journey whenever he came to lodge at the Oasis. As their friendship gradually deepened, Floryn's trust in the young man also grew. She showed the young man the glowing seed, hoping the latter could help her solve the puzzle.
At first, the young man helped Floryn look for info about the seed wholeheartedly. As time went by, however, Floryn found the young man was always avoiding her eyes, and he'd change the subject whenever the seed was brought up. Floryn began to worry about the young man's state.
One night, Floryn woke up with a start. She was shocked to find the seed she'd always carried with her had disappeared!
Floryn searched everywhere in the Oasis but to no avail. Torn with anxiety, Floryn went to ask the young man for help, only to discover he'd already left the Oasis with his camel.
A thought that Floryn dreaded to believe came to her mind – could it be him?
Floryn followed the young man's trail out of the Oasis. She wanted to find out the truth.
However, what awaited her was a silent answer from what she saw and heard along the way. It was the first time Floryn had stepped into the desert, and also the first time she'd seen the howling sandstorms and the look of despair on people's faces. Before that, she'd never understood what kind of suffering people outside the Oasis were going through.
When Floryn caught up with the young man in his village, what came into view were cracked farmland, dried wells, famished kids… and those desperate ones who'd stop at nothing to survive.
The young man was slumped in a corner. He'd wanted to sell the seed to feed his family, but he'd never expected that the seed would wither the moment it left Floryn. As a result, those who'd been willing to bid would pay not a single penny.
The young man returned the withered seed to Floryn, ready to take the blame for betraying their friendship.
Floryn, however, didn't say a word.
The experience along the way had given Floryn a glimpse of the young man's predicament. Compared to the sadness of being betrayed by her friend, another even stronger and more complicated emotion was churning in her heart. Driven by this emotion, Floryn wanted badly to do something for the land, to save the people who lived in extreme misery as the young man did.
A surge of magic power swelled from the bottom of Floryn's heart. It flowed through her arm and poured into the seed in her hand. feeling the power, the once withered seed shone again, and from the light that was a hundred times more dazzling than before popped out a cute and lively little creature!
This little creature leaped out into the air and eagerly showed off its miraculous powers; it summoned rain with just a wave of its tail, and new shoots gradually sprouted from where the rain fell. The once lifeless village was surrounded by greenery in mere minutes.
Floryn's was stunned by the sight in front of her. She'd never imagined the seed could give birth to such a magical creature, just as she'd never thought she'd ever leave the Oasis. It was only when Floryn's resolve to change the desert resonated with Belerick's will inside the seed did the latter awakened its true power.
Although the little creature born from the seed was still very young, from its limited power Floryn saw infinite possibilities of changing the desert.
"You look like a round drop of dew. I should just call you Dew!"
Dew circled Floryn excitedly, as if it also liked the name.

Lying on the cold floor, Faramis felt his life quickly draining out of him. He clenched his fists and tried to get up, only to find he couldn't even peel open his eyes, his consciousness gradually fading.
Faramis never thought he could open his eyes again, and when he did, he saw a young lady leaning over, parting his lips to drop a bitter liquid into his mouth. With his mind in a haze, Faramis found the sight overlapped with his memory of the girl in the garden. Looking at the strange but familiar face, Faramis recognized that she was the very same noble girl who'd helped him back then.
The girl who'd brought light to his childhood had come to his aid again! During his recovery, Faramis found himself smitten with the young lady who'd saved him from darkness twice. She was the only person who'd never given him up except for his parents.
As soon as Faramis recovered, however, Vexana urged him to leave the place, saying it was dangerous for a living person to continue to stay in Necrokeep. The Mist was starting to overpower his enchanted staff. If he stayed any longer, he would soon meet a fate like theirs.
Faramis said not a word; his eyes fixated on the Moonlight Grass and the fading staff in his hands. His reason told him it was time to leave, but when he stood in front of the castle's gate and saw the forced smile on Vexana's face, he found himself unable to leave like this. Memories of the childhood encounter and the meticulous care in Necrokeep flashed across Faramis's mind. He could not give up the young lady who'd brought light and warmth twice to his life. He had made his choice, he would stay in Necrokeep and finish the task yet to be done.
Faramis let go of the protection of his staff, finally basking in the blight of the Mist. His skin turned sallow and pale, and yet he felt no fear. He knew he could conquer this scourge. And to do so, to uncover the secrets of life and death, he must experience the curse for himself.
This time, it was his turn to pull Vexana out of the misery she was in.

The Celestial Palace, home of the gods, was once a bustling city patrolled by innumerable Nazar guardians. Any demon who dared approach the city would be overwhelmed by their unrivaled flying speed and bound by their frightening lightning whips which would strip their victims of all magical abilities. No demon could escape when pursued by these divine warriors, and thus perpetual peace was maintained in the Celestial Palace.
As their leader, Kaja was able to refine the power of lighting into pure energy to control as he so desired, inflicting catastrophic damage to all enemies who faced him, and was charged with directly protecting the ruler of the city. Countless eons ago, after the city's ruler created the Nazar guardians and departed, the city gradually fell into a state of ruin. When Uranus was activated, the ruler of the Celestial Palace handed down new orders to the Nazar—to drive the evil demons from the city and rebuild the Celestial Palace in anticipation of the master's return.
